We would like to introduce one of our special need dogs, Minah, a one year old mastiff mix who is DEAF. She came from a hoarding situation, went to foster care and finally found her “forever” home at five months of age.
When she first started at daycare, we were told Minah had a food allergy which caused gastric upset and she had limited contact with people and therefore was shy and timid around us. But when she socialized with the other dogs, she came out of her shell and was playful and happy!
In the beginning, the process we took with Minah was to limit her time in order for her to adjust, acclimate to us and her new friends, which by doing so we saw extreme improvement. Her owner, Michelle, showed us hand signals they use to train Minah. She is now so excited to see us and play with all of her friends. As for her food allergy, we worked together and have resolved all issues so Minah is also healthier.
Thank you Michelle for trusting us to help socialize Minah and for her to become the sweet, loving dog she is.
